Villar’s New Year’s Day Message
Over the past year, we as a people and as a country confronted numerous challenges. But as the New Year starts, we move on with the resilient spirit that we Filipinos are known for, confident in our own strength and capabilities, and of course with continued faith in God. After all, every new year is a symbol of hope.
In 2009, like the rest of the world, the Philippines suffered significant economic and financial setbacks, many of our countrymen lost their jobs and livelihood, a number of businesses suffered profits losses or even closed shop. Thus the urgent need for a stronger and more stable economy became more evident and crucial.
NP: ‘We fight for the poor’
27 December 2009 – The poor is the real candidate in next year’s elections.
This is what former Cavite Rep. Gilbert Remulla said yesterday in behalf of the Nacionalista Party, which has launched its campaign platform for next year’s elections based on pro-poor and pro-development programs.
“We in the Nacionalista Party will fight for the poor. No single person or political party has waged a full and all-out war against poverty and sincerely fought for genuine social reform in our country. We rise up to that challenge now,” Remulla, NP spokesman and senatorial candidate, said.
The Best Choice on Whom Not to vote For: A Non-political Observer’s point of View
No offense meant to ardent supporters of Noynoy, some of whom are my close friends. Just a point of view of a non political observer.
————————-
In every election, the easiest choice to make is, who you would not vote for. This year, it is profoundly difficult because for me the easiest identifiable candidate whom I would not vote for, (aside from Erap of course, for who would vote for a convicted plunderer) is a leading candidate, with the widest of margin in the survey, Noynoy. He probably will be the next president and so, in my heart, I tried my best to consider and reconsider my decision, yet I became more convinced that he is my best choice on whom not to vote for. These are in my thoughts:
Makabayan decries errors, inaccuracies in latest Pulse Asia survey
Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño today decried what he termed as Pulse Asia’s Ana Maria Tabunda’s inaccurate and misleading analysis of the impact of Sen. Chiz Escudero’s withdrawal on the poll ratings of other presidential candidates.
The key question that Pulse Asia failed to address is why is Sen. Noynoy Aquino’s ratings unchanged despite Sen. Escudero’s public support for his candidacy? We don’t understand why Tabunda is harping on Sen. Villar’s four percent increase in his ratings, saying it did not go up as much as it should,” said Casiño.
Incidence of Filipinos Being Used as ‘Drug Mules’ Increasing
Villar Asks for Urgent Action from Authorities; filed Senate Resolution 1192 -Nacionalista Party President Senator Manny Villar says immediate action is needed to prevent the rise in the number of incidents of Filipinos being used ‘drug mules’ in other countries. He said this as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) released a statement about 183 Filipinos, mostly women, “languishing in various jails in China due to drug trafficking”.
Villar has earlier filed Senate Resolution (SRN) 1192 directing the Senate Committee on Public Order and Illegal Drugs to conduct an investigation into the increasing number of Filipino drug mules which is heavily damaging the country’s reputation abroad. The senator’s Sagip OFW office has in fact rescued a number of Filipinos victimized by drug cartels.
Pacquiao Declares All-Out Support: People’s Champ for Villar
World boxing champion and Time magazine cover Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao declared his all-out support for Nacionalista Party (NP) president and standard-bearer Sen. Manny Villar.
Villar swore in Pacquiao, who is running for congressman of Saranggani, along with his People’s Champ Movement local party slate, in the boxing icon’s mansion in General Santos following his 31st birthday celebration at the KCC Events and Convention Center attended by over 2,000 guests including Villar.
“Manny Pacquiao, who has thrown his best punches to hoist our country’s pride and honor, is a deeply valued partner in our campaign to help keep our people from being knocked out by extreme hardships,” the NP standard-bearer who was born to poverty in Tondo said.
Villar sponsors eye operation for maritime scholar
The father of a maritime school scholar yesterday expressed gratitude to Nacionalista Party president and standard-bearer Sen. Manny Villar for sponsoring his son’s eye operation, the success of which allowed him to enroll and enjoy his scholarship.
Eladio Matibag, a rank-and-file Navy officer stationed at Sangley Point in Cavite , personally thanked Villar for his son Emmanuel’s eye procedure at the American Eye Center in Mandaluyong City .
“Physical impairment should not hinder a person’s capacity to pursue his or her dreams and aspirations, especially one that can be corrected. There are many Emmanuels out there who can realize their ambitions and full potential with a little help from the Good Samaritan in all of us,” Villar said.
