‘Megaton’ issues vs Noynoy
Campaign strategists of the Villar camp (Nacionalista Party, or NP) have apparently found a sure-fire way for their standard-bearer, Sen. Manuel Villar, to beat Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III (Liberal Party, or LP) in the current race for the presidency. As the latest Pulse Asia surveys have shown, Villar and Aquino are now statistically tied, with Villar getting 38 percent and Aquino 37 percent.
This survey finding has, of course, shown how effectively the NP standard-bearer has been able to broaden and solidify his support base. Conversely, it has shown that the LP’s bet, who had started his campaign on a formidably solid footing (with an unbelievably high rating of 51 percent against Villar’s 23 percent), is now standing on shaky ground.
