The latest SWS survey again shows Villar and Aquino practically tied considering a statistical error of about 2 %. Aquino has lost so much support from his earliest preference of some 60% last year. And other candidates are also gaining support.
Manny Villar can be our next President. And he will be a good one.
Manny Villar is the target of concerted attack and propaganda from all quarters because he has a good chance of becoming our next President.
Why? He attracts support from the middle class and the lower classes, especially the poor. The rich and upper classes prefer their old friends and allies in the traditional elite.
According to this email forward, a sumptuous mansion featured in a series of attached photographs belongs to President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe. The email claims that while Mugabe lives in such opulent luxury, the ordinary people of Zimbabwe face poverty under his leadership.
However, the mansion depicted in these photographs is not Mugabe’s residence at all. In fact, the very same set of photographs has also circulated in protest messages decrying the opulent lifestyles of other political leaders and celebrities. One version claims that the home belongs to President Pervaiz Musharraf of Pakistan. Another claims that the mansion is the home of former Nigerian ruler Ibrahim Babangida. Yet another version suggests that the photographs show the home of former Secretary of Health Care of Azerbaijan, Russia. And, finally, many references, including a YouTube video, claim that the home belongs to Bollywood superstar, Shahrukh Khan.
(Updated 6:54 p.m.) ROXAS CITY – Nacionalista Party standard bearer Manuel “Manny” Villar Jr. and his party mates on Wednesday began to woo residents of Capiz province, hometown and bailiwick of Liberal Party vice presidential bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.
First to arrive at the airport here around 6:30 a.m. were NP senatorial candidates Gilbert Remulla, Adel Tamano, Satur Ocampo, Liza Maza, Rep. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Gwen Pimentel, daughter of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr.
Also present was Martin Querubin, representing his father, resigned Marine Col. Ariel Querubin who is still detained at the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (Isafp) compound in Camp Aguinaldo.
Relatives of the victims of Hacienda Luisita massacre and agrarian reform advocates called on LP standard bearer Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to show proof of his campaign slogan “Tuloy ang Laban” by implementing genuine agrarian reform in his own backyard.
The challenge was aired following Noynoy’s speech during the campaign kick off rally in Tarlac Tuesday saying that the Cojuangcos and the Aquinos, for decades now, have made the lives of Hacienda Luisita farmers and sugar workers miserable.
It is hardly surprising that members of the Makati Business Club should cheer “Noynoy”. He is their candidate. But to say “he is not the meek and mild pushover type” is not what worries intelligent voters. He may be a ferocious bulldog but against whom will he train his ferocity is the question? Two candidates, Sen. Manuel Villar and Sen. Richard Gordon have both zeroed in on his lackluster legislative performance.
Many share this opinion of Aquino. It is worrying that big business has chosen a candidate who has nothing to show to prove his acumen or capacity to lead in critical times when leadership, is most needed.
This week the country commemorates the tragic shooting of protesting farmers on January 22, 1987, an incident better known as the Mendiola massacre. Along with the Hacienda Luisita massacre of November 16, 2004, these two incidents represent the darker side of the Aquino legacy.
This January 9, Saturday, Movement for Better Values will be joining Noynoy, Gibo and Dick Gordon in a Presidentiable Forum to be anchored by Mike Enriquez of GMA 7. Venue is De La Salle Zobel School’s Sylvia Lina Auditorium in Ayala Alabang Village @9am-12nn.
The auditorium can only seat 1,000 pax, so please come early to join the Tropang Villar! It will be first come-first seated. We need to have as many orange-shirted MBV supporters this Saturday. Come as early as 8am, if not earlier.
