Villar is most trusted bet in May 10 polls — Pulse Asia
Posted on | February 24, 2010 | No Comments
Only Senators Manuel Villar Jr. and Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III enjoy majority trust ratings among those seeking to become the country’s next President, with Villar having a slight edge over Aquino in Pulse Asia’s latest survey.
The survey, conducted last January 22 to 26, said 70 percent of the 1,800 respondents had “big trust” in Villar, slightly better than Aquino’s 64 percent.
Pulse Asia earlier released a presidential preference survey conducted during the same period, where Aquino was preferred by 37 percent of voters, and Villar by 35 percent.
A sense of entitlement?

For some, the power motive is so consuming that the usual restraints on behavior posed by norms of morality or prescriptions of religion are readily set aside. For such power-obsessed individuals, even an intensely Catholic education in an elite school offers only permeable boundaries to what is moral or ethical. Actually, for these some, the very “eliteness” of certain educational environments tends only to reinforce the sense of entitlement that characterizes their ambition to acquire political power.

NP senatoriables got the top three rankings, ten out of 12 senatorial slots
Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer Senator Mannny Villar is tied with Liberal Party (LP) bet Senator Noynoy Aquino in the latest nationwide survey conducted by The Issues and Advocacy Center or The CENTER. Both presidential aspirants got 27 percent in the said survey.
“Ako naman ay natutuwa na sunod-sunod ang mga survey results na nagpapakita na talagang tumataas ang ating rankings. Ito ay nagpapatunay lamang na nagbubunga ang aming pagod sa pagpaparating sa ating mga kababayan ng aming plataporma at ito ay kanilang nagugustuhan naman,” said Villar.

Someone or a group of rabid supporters of one Presidentiable got very very busy. Emails circulated all around, in and outside the Philippines, about a mansion somewhere in Texas owned by Manny Villar. Dripping in extravagance, a set of photos of the mansion with the gaudy interior decor even had this introduction:
” Imagine who would have such taste and live in such opulence. An American billionaire? A Saudi Prince? Louis XIV of France? Savour the pictures, then scroll to the bottom of the page to see who owns this work of art.”

‘Those whom the gods wish to destroy… they first make mad’
Posted on | February 22, 2010 | No Comments
That statement — attributed to Euripides (c. 480 BC) in reference to those who had become crazed by power — suspiciously applies to the present-day handlers of the presidential bid of Noynoy Aquino.
The handlers have acted arrogantly with the thought that the presidency is theirs for the taking. They had better perish that thought by now.
In the afterglow of the death of Cory Aquino last year, all too suddenly Noynoy was thrust into the limelight, and the Liberal Party (LP) grabbed him as its standard bearer, over the well-prepared and definitely more qualified Mar Roxas. That was a decision made in a fit of madness.

No one gets left behind in war vs poverty – Villar
Posted on | February 21, 2010 | No Comments
s As soldiers often say in the heat of battle, Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer Manny Villar vowed to “leave no one behind” in his bid to stamp out poverty in the country.
“The next president must make sure that economic growth redounds to the benefit of the poor. I believe that any growth must be inclusive, that no one is left behind when the economy improves,” Villar said.
The NP standard-bearer said the findings of three international development agencies – the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and the UN Development Program (UNDP) – on the poverty problem in the Philippines should be a wake-up call for the national leadership.
